Specifics: Updating to Chapter 14 of Shadow of the Hegemon. About 24 hours after his previous canon point. A lot has happened in those 24 hours, however. Bean (and his friend Suriyawong) survived an attempted assassination by Thai forces secretly in Achilles' pocket, escaped to the barracks of Bean's loyal Thai strike force, where he sent an unencrypted message to Sister Carlotta, which prompted her to board a flight as quickly as possible from China to Thailand. The flight was then shot down by Chinese forces from inside Thailand, both as a way to prompt Thailand and China into joining Achilles' war, and as a way to kill Sister Carlotta. Bean, in mourning for the woman who was closer to him than his own mother, then read a letter she left for him to read in the event of her death, which not only detailed her feelings of love for him, but also explained in great detail the specifics of Bean's genetic alteration: how a switch has been flipped in his genetic code, to allow his mind never to stop growing, at the price of his body also never stopping growing, leading to his ultimate death at a young age, when his body becomes too big for his heart to support. Bean's entire world will have been shaken, and he will be so thoroughly depressed that it will take him several days to recover. In canon, his recovery was spurred on by the necessity to take immediate action against Achilles, but removed from that, in MoM, Bean will lack that driving push to force him to get over the loss not only of Sister Carlotta, but of all hopes he had for a future.
